How to retrieve your emails using iPhones and iPads
Apple Mail (Mac)
These instructions apply to Apple Mail, the built-in email program on macOS. Apple Mail works very reliably with independently hosted email accounts.
To set up a new email account on a Mac
1) Open Mail on your Mac.
2) From the top menu, select Mail → Add Account.
3) Choose Other Mail Account, then click Continue.
4) Enter:
Name: your name as you want it to appear
Email Address: your full email address
Password: your email password
Click Sign In.
Manual configuration
Apple Mail may not detect the server automatically. If prompted, enter the settings below.
Account Type: IMAP (recommended)
Incoming Mail Server (IMAP)
Mail Server: mail.serenweb.com
User Name: your full email address
Password: your email password
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
Mail Server: mail.serenweb.com
User Name: your full email address
Password: your email password
Click Sign In to complete setup.
Server ports and security (if required)
If you need to confirm or edit advanced settings:
Open Mail → Settings → Accounts, select your account, then:
Incoming (IMAP):
Server: mail.serenweb.com
Port: 993
Use SSL: Yes
Outgoing (SMTP):
Server: mail.serenweb.com
Port: 465
Use SSL: Yes
Authentication: Password
If you prefer POP settings
POP downloads email directly to your Mac and is best used if you only read mail on one computer.
When setting up the account, choose POP instead of IMAP and use:
Incoming Mail Server (POP)
Server: mail.serenweb.com
Port: 110
Use SSL: No
User Name: your full email address
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
Server: mail.serenweb.com
Port: 587
Use SSL: No (STARTTLS)
Authentication: Password
Why IMAP is recommended
IMAP keeps your email synchronised across your Mac, phone, webmail and other devices.
POP should only be used if you are certain you want email downloaded to a single computer.
